Ettore Amato

Ettore AMATO is an ECDC-EUPHEM fellow working at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health. Prior to this, he worked as policy assistant dealing with zoonosis and multi-country foodborne outbreaks and consultant for the RASFF of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). He obtained his Ph.D in Public Health while working at the Enteric-Pathogen Reference Laboratory in Lombardy region (Italy), the Health Science Department of University of Milan and the Food Science Department of the Pennsylvania State University with a research interest in molecular epidemiology and whole genome sequencing of food- and waterborne bacterial pathogens.
